Riotform started as a design studio and turned into a label. This is where the first part still shows.
Nine thousand stitches
A screen print costs a few rupees and lasts about thirty washes. Embroidery costs an order of magnitude more and outlives the garment it’s sewn into. We picked the expensive one, which is why there are eight products in this drop and not forty.
Every piece is made to order in India. Nothing is produced in advance, nothing sits in a warehouse, and nothing gets discounted to clear space. If a piece sells badly we stop making it, which is a cleaner ending than a sale rack.
The label came second
Riotform Studios works across design, film, branding and whatever sits between them. The label is what happens when a studio gets bored of making things for other people.
